HOW DRUG CARTELS CREATED THE FENTANYL CRISIS
Was America’s fentanyl epidemic really just about “demand”? Or was the demand deliberately engineered?
In Episode 67 of Going Rogue with Lara Logan, Jaeson Jones, former Texas DPS captain and cartel expert, explains how the narrative most Americans have heard for years leaves out a critical piece of the story.
We did not have a fentanyl crisis decades ago. Most Americans had never even heard of fentanyl, para-fentanyl, or carfentanil. Yet today, these synthetic opioids dominate the landscape.
Jaeson describes the playbook:
In the early 2000s, Mexican cartels built mega meth labs and flooded U.S. markets. In Houston, meth was given away for free to hook users and seize territory.
Years later in Kensington, Pennsylvania, the same strategy was deployed. Heroin users were introduced to fentanyl, often given away at first. Control the street. Control the dependency. Control the market.
This is not just a drug story.
It is a strategy story.
If the public never hears how markets are captured and addiction is engineered, we will never understand the battlefield we are actually on.
