Lara Logan is joined by Mike Smith, former Hollywood stuntman, action director, and filmmaker behind the documentaries “Out Of Shadows” and “Into The Light.”
After a 30-year career working at the highest levels of Hollywood, Smith describes how he says he was unaware of much of the darker reality he later came to question. When “Out Of Shadows” was released, it was uploaded for free and rapidly spread across the world — translated into 24 languages and reaching over 100 million views in its first 10 months while metrics were still being tracked.
Smith recounts being removed from multiple major platforms and says that even today certain links connected to the film remain difficult to share. Despite that, five years later, the film recently surpassed 22 million views on X alone.
The discussion centers on independent distribution, platform moderation, and how certain stories continue to circulate despite attempts to restrict them.

In the clip, Cutler explains how polarization can become a manufactured sense of life and death. When issues are framed emotionally instead of rationally, critical thinking can shut down. Fear replaces logic. Once someone believes a situation threatens their survival, their family, or their country, they instinctively defend that belief, even when confronted with evidence.
Using the analogy of a child afraid of a monster in the closet, Cutler argues that if you convince people there is a “boogeyman,” emotion overrides reason.
