They will never write an algorithm that decides to jump into a raging river to save the lives of two drug smugglers who are drowning. They will never create a machine or a robot that comes close to Specialist Bishop Evans who at just 22-years-old chose to risk his life for two people he had never met. There is nothing on earth greater than humanity at our best - no machine, no AI, no super hero. Free will is real and it is a gift from God. With broken hearts, we salute and honor you Specialist Evans for sacrificing your life and we honor your amazing grandparents who raised you with integrity and grace. We trust Texas leaders will show the appropriate respect and recognise your actions as they deserve to be recognised - with the highest possible honor: the Texas Medal of Honor.
Evans military chain of command can write it up, Gov Greg Abbott can call a special legislative session just for this (they have often done it for far less) and the State of Texas can do the right thing.
